What can I do at the Post Office?

We’ve increased the number of services available at thousands of Post Office® outlets across the UK.

 

As an Ulster Bank Customer, you can:

  • Pay in cash with a pre-printed paying-in slip
  • Make cheque deposits with a pre-printed paying-in slip
  • Exchange cash for coin using the Post Office® Change Giving service - You must register for this service 
  • Withdraw cash using your debit card and PIN
  • Get your balance using your debit card and PIN. If you don’t have a business debit card and would like to apply for one you can find out more information here

What you need to know

A guide to Post Office banking

  • Each Post Office® is subject to individual cut off times* and the level of service may differ at each Post Office ®. Please check with the Post Office® you intend to use to find out more
  • Cash and cheques paid through the Post Office® will be added to an Ulster Bank account when we receive it from the Post Office®, which is usually within two working days. The cheques will follow the normal cheque clearing cycle once we have received them from the Post Office®. Please note that sometimes it might take longer to reach us
  • When using the Post Office® to pay in, cash and cheques cannot be mixed in the same transaction. Separate paying-in slips are required
  • Services at the Post Office® are subject to the same charges applicable at Ulster Bank branches. Please contact us or speak to your Relationship Manager for further information

*Cut off times are defined as the “Point of time in which the banking transactions are collected from the Post Office®”

Cash pay in

Pay in cash with a pre-printed paying-in slip

What you need

  • Cash to be paid in and pre-printed paying-in slip

Transaction Limit

  • Coin deposits must not exceed £250
  • Regular deposits of £10,000+ per week are by arrangement only. Please contact us or speak to your Relationship Manager to arrange

Transaction timescales

  • Cash paid through the Post Office® will be added to an Ulster bank account when we receive it from the Post Office®, which is usually within two working days.
  • Please note that sometimes it might take longer to reach us

*Mixed pay-ins: Please note that cash and cheques cannot be mixed when carrying out a ‘Paying-in cash with slip’ transaction. Separate paying-in slips are required

Cheque pay in

Pay in a cheque with a pre-printed paying-in slip

What you need

  • Cheque to be paid in and pre-printed paying in slip
  • Ulster Bank Post Office® cheque deposit envelope (available only from the Post Office®)

Transaction Limit

  • A pre-printed paying-in slip is required for every Ulster Bank branded Post Office® cheque deposit envelope used.
  • Service charges may apply for each paying-in slip used

Change Giving

Order change for your business

What you need

  • You will need to register to use this service. Please contact us or speak to your Relationship Manager to arrange a valid Change Giving card provided following registration. This will be required to complete each transaction
  • Notes to be exchanged for coins only

Transaction Limit

  • Up to a maximum of £1,000 per day

Transaction timescales

  • Instant - provided the Post Office® has received your change order request at least 24 hours in advance

*Change Giving registration: Please allow approximately 15 business days for the Change Giving registration to be completed before attempting to use the service for the first time

Cash withdrawal

Withdraw cash using your debit card and pin

What you need

  • Bank debit card and PIN

Transaction Limit

  • Up to a maximum of £500 per day, or value of card limit, whichever is lower. Subject to sufficient available funds in the account
