Our Mobile app now comes with Spending.

Spending is a feature that automatically places your current account transactions into categories, so you can get a detailed picture of where your money goes every month.

You must be aged 16+ and hold a Personal or Premier current account to see the Spending tab in your mobile app. Spending is only available for current accounts. App available to customers with Anytime Banking using compatible iOS and Android devices and a UK or international mobile number in specific countries.

Spending features

Budgets - Set yourself a budget

You could spend less and save more by setting yourself a monthly budget. This new feature lets you add a budget to your Spending categories within our app, so you are in control of what you spend and where. 

Categorisation - Your spending sorted

With Spending, your transactions will be automatically put into one of our eleven categories, to show a clearer picture of how you spend your money.

To make Spending suit you even more, you can manually change the category of any transaction once it’s fully cleared to your account.

Monthly View - Pick a date

When setting up Spending, you’ll be asked to choose your ‘first day’ of each month so the app knows when to move to the next cycle.

This can be any date you like.

For example, you may wish to choose your payday so you can assess the entire timeframe between getting your salary.

You can adjust this date after setup too, just visit the Settings section of your app.


High Security - Keeping you secure

Spending comes with the same modern security features present in the rest of our app. You can choose from fingerprint, facial recognition or a 6-digit passcode to protect your app.


For peace of mind, your data will never be stored on your phone. And when you log out, no trace of your account will stay on your device.


Fingerprint and facial recognition are available on selected devices.

Follow these three simple steps to get setup

1. Log in to your Ulster Bank Mobile Banking app and tap Spending from the options along the bottom of the screen

2. Select which accounts you'd like to include in your Spending view and choose the date you'd like your month to start, for example your payday

3. Set up your categories for the transactions shown on screen

Congratulations, you will now be set up for Spending in your app.
