Other ways to pay with your mobile

Google Pay™ 

Google Pay is the new way to pay with your Ulster Bank debit card, Visa credit and Mastercard credit card.
 

You can tap and pay with your Android device just like you can with your contactless card. It's easy to set up, safe and secure.
 

Available on Android devices running Android 4.4 (KitKat®) or higher.  Available to Ulster Bank current account holders, Visa credit and Mastercard credit card holders.

Apple Pay

Apple Pay is the new, easy and secure way to pay using an eligible Ulster Bank debit cards, Visa credit and Mastercard credit cards and an Apple device.
 

  • Make contactless payments in shops
  • Pay with a single touch within apps
  • Use Apple Pay to make online purchases

There is no set limit for how much can be spent using Apple Pay, however retailers may apply contactless limits. Some retailers may accept Apple Pay transactions for larger amounts.

Easy ways for you to pay and receive money

Transfer money between your accounts

Quickly send money between your own accounts using the mobile app.

Making a transfer

Transfering between your accounts is easy:

 

1. Simply log in and select the account you wish to make the transfer from.

2. Select 'Make a transfer'.

3. Choose what account you want to make the transfer to.

4. Enter the amount you wish to transfer.

5. Select to 'send now' or 'send later'.

6. Click 'Make transfer' on iOS or 'Next' on Android - You will then be shown a confirmation screen.

 

Done.

 

Pay someone new up to £1000 without a card reader

Need to pay a friend or tradesman? You can use your app to pay anyone up to £1000 with just their account number and sort code. You don’t need a card reader or to have paid them before using Anytime Banking.

How to pay someone new

  1. Open your Ulster Bank app, tap on the account you want to make a payment from, select 'Payments' and then 'Make a payment'.
  2. Tap ‘Select payee’ on Apple devices or ‘Choose payee’ on Android devices and then tap 'Pay someone new' and put in the name and account details of the person you want to pay.
  3. Choose the amount you wish to send, add a reference for the payment and the choose the date you want to send the money on, now or in the future. Tap on ‘Make payment’ for Apple devices and ‘Next’ on Android devices.
  4. For added security you may be asked to authorise this payment. If this happens you will see the ‘Authentication required’ screen. Just tap ‘Next’ Then re-enter your mobile app’s log in details, to re-confirm it’s you.
  5. Check the details on screen are correct then tap ‘Make payment’ on Apple devices and ‘Next’ on Android devices, then tap ‘Make payment’ again.
  6. That’s your payment complete! You can save or send a PDF copy of the payment once it's sent, if you want to keep a record of it.

 

Important Information
 

Payments under £1000 can be saved on the mobile app and will also show in Anytime Banking for future use. You must be aged 16 or over and there is a maximum of 5 payments totalling £1000 per day.

 

 

How to pay someone you have paid before

  1. Open your mobile app.
  2. Tap on the account you wish to make a payment from.
  3. Tap on 'Payments'.
  4. Tap 'Make a payment'.
  5. Tap on 'Select payee' on Apple devices or 'Choose payee', on Android devices to choose who you want to pay. Enter the amount you want to pay and if you want to make to payment now or in the future. Tap  ‘Make payment’ on Apple devices or ‘Next’ on Android devices to continue. 
  6. * If you want to change the existing reference a daily limit of £1000 will be applied and you may be asked to authorise the payment using your app's log in details.
  7. Check and confirm the payment details are correct and tap 'Make payment'.
  8. That’s your payment complete! If you need a record of this payment, simply tap 'Get PDF confirmation' and follow the instructions on the screen.

Important Information
 

A daily limit of £20,000 applies when sending money to your saved payees for Personal customers and a daily limit of £50,000 will apply for Premier customers, unless you change your existing reference.

Send and receive money with your mobile number

Paym is a service available to most of the UK’s leading banks and building societies that allows you to send and receive  money using just a mobile number. We call this service Pay your Contacts

How to pay your contacts:

  1. Open your Ulster Bank app, tap on the account you want to make a payment from, select 'Payments' and then 'Pay your contacts'.
  2. Select the person you want to pay from your contacts, or enter their name and mobile number. Enter the reference and the amount you wish to send.
  3. For added security you may be asked to authorise this payment. If this happens you will see the ‘Authentication required’ screen. Just tap ‘Next’ Just re-enter your mobile app’s log in details, to re-confirm it’s you.
  4. Check the details on screen are correct then tap ‘Make payment’ on Apple devices and ‘Next’ on Android devices, then tap ‘Make payment’ again.
  5. Done!

If the person you are paying isn't registered for Paym, the payment won't go through and the app will let you know. Find out more about Paym in our Support Centre. Alternatively you can pay someone new using their sort code and account details.

 

Important information

There is a maximum payment of 20 payments totalling £250 per day. You must be aged 16 and over. Pay anyone who is registered for Paym.

How to register for Paym

  1. Open your Ulster Bank app, tap on the 'My Profile' icon at the top right of your screen.
  2. Tap on 'Register for Paym'.
  3. Tap on 'Register now'
  4. Tap ‘Done’ on Apple devices or ‘OK’ on Android devices, that’s you ready to receive Paym payments.

Important information

Paym is available on most personal accounts. You can only register for Paym on one account.

Pay your credit card directly from the mobile app

Nobody likes paying bills, but when it comes to paying your Ulster Bank credit card we want to make it as easy as possible.

Paying your Ulster Bank credit card is simple with our Mobile Banking app.

 

  • Simply log in to your app.
  • Select your credit card from the list of accounts.
  • Select 'Pay credit card'.
  • Choose to pay the minimum balance, the full statement balance or another amount of your choice.
  • Check and confirm the payment details.

The payment will reach the requested account within 2 hours however it may take longer to appear on your credit card account. You can find more help for credit cards in our Support Centre.

Pay your bills from within the app without needing a card reader

Pay a bill you paid before

 

Your step-by-step guide:

  1. Open your mobile app.
  2. Tap on the account you wish to make a payment from.
  3. Tap on 'Payments'.
  4. Tap 'Make a payment'.
  5. Tap on 'Select payee' on Apple devices or 'Choose payee' on Android devices to search through your saved payees until you find the bill you want to pay. Enter the amount you want to pay and if you want to make to payment now or in the future. Tap ‘Make payment’ on Apple devices or ‘Next’ on Android devices to continue.
    * If you want to change the existing reference a daily limit of £1000 will be applied and you may be asked to authorise the payment using your app's log in details.
  6. Check and confirm the payment details are correct and 'Make payment'.
  7. That’s your payment complete! If you need a record of this payment simply tap 'Get PDF confirmation'.

 

Important information

For bill payments saved through Anytime Banking a daily limit of £20,000 will apply for Personal customers and a limit of £50,000 will apply for Premier customers. For a payment you haven't saved through Anytime Banking, or where you change the reference, a daily limit of £1000 will apply.

 

 

Pay a bill for the first time

 

Your step-by-step guide:

  1. Open your Ulster Bank app, tap on the account you want to make a payment from, select 'Payments' and then 'Make a payment'.
  2. Tap ‘Select payee’ on Apple devices or ‘Choose payee’ on Android devices and then tap 'Pay someone new' and enter the name and account details of the bill you want to pay.
  3. Use the reference number supplied by the company you are paying, so that they know it's from you. Choose the amount you want to pay and when you want the payment to be sent. Tap on ‘Make payment’ for Apple devices and ‘Next’ on Android devices.
  4. For added security you may be asked to authorise this payment. If this happens you will see the ‘Authentication required’ screen. Just tap ‘Next’ Just re-enter your mobile app’s log in details, to re-confirm it’s you.
  5. Check the details on screen are correct then tap ‘Make payment’ on Apple devices and ‘Next’ on Android devices, then tap ‘Make payment’ again.
  6. Payment complete, you can save or send a PDF copy of the payment once it's sent if you want to keep a record of it.

Important information

Stay on top of your standing orders and Direct Debits

Set up, amend and cancel your standing orders and Direct Debits.

With our mobile app you can:

  • Set up new standing orders to your saved Anytime Banking payees, to move money between your own accounts or to a set list of companies without having to log in to Anytime Banking.
  • Amend the name, date, reference or amount of your existing standing orders.
  • View the status of your Direct Debits and standing orders to keep an eye on the next payment date.
  • Cancel your Direct Debits or standing orders without having to ring or visit us.

 

Important Information

  • To cancel your standing order from within the mobile app you must give two working days notice
  • To amend your standing order from within the mobile app you must give two working days notice
  • To cancel a Direct Debit from within your mobile app you have up until 8.20pm (UK time) on the day the payment is due to be taken from your account. At or after 8.20pm (UK time) the payment due on that day will have been taken and we will not have been able to retrieve it

Set up payments or transfers to leave on a future date

Need to make a payment next week, next month but worried you will forget to send it? Set it up now to leave on a specific date in the future.

Setting up a payment or transfer to leave on a specific future date is easy and can be done through the mobile app. Simply follow these steps:

 

  • Select the account you want the money to leave from.
  • Select the account you want to transfer your money to or enter the payment details of the person you wish to pay.
  • Select 'Send later' and enter the date you would like the transfer or payment to be made.
  • Touch 'Schedule payment' and that's the payment or transfer set up and good to go.

Note that payments and transfer cannot be scheduled to leave more than 120 days in the future.
