Your guide to making payments

Log into Anytime Banking

App available to customers aged 11+ using compatible iOS and Android devices and a UK or international mobile number in specific countries. Anytime Banking available to customers aged 11+ with an Ulster account.

*If you require to amend your personalised payment limit you will need a card reader and to login to Anytime Banking. There is a maximum of 5 payments totaling £1000 per day when paying someone new. To make a transfer from the mobile app for more than £1000, you'll need to have made at least one payment to that payee using Anytime Banking.

  Manage payment limit

More control of your own payment limit. Personalise how much you're able to pay someone from your mobile app or Anytime Banking. Increase or reduce your limit simple by log onto Anytime Banking with a card reader.

Anytime Banking

If you require to make a payment above your current limit then you will need a card reader to complete a change of limit to a lower of higher amount.

 

What you'll need:

  • To be registered for Anytime Banking.
  • Your debit card and card reader.

Your step-by-step guide:

  1. Log in to Anytime Banking.
  2. Select ‘Payments and transfers’ from the left-hand menu.
  3. Under the ‘Make a payment or transfer’ heading select ‘Manage my personal payment limits”.
  4. Select the limit your wish to amend by selecting ‘Amend Limit’.
  5. Enter the amount you wish your limit go be set to.
  6. Read the ‘Stop and Think’ information and tick the box when you are happy to proceed.
  7. Select ‘Next’ and review the limit change.
  8. If correct, you will need your debit card and card reader to complete the limit change. Please follow the on-screen instructions.

All done! You will see the limit change confirmation and you can then continue to make the payment.

Paying someone new

It’s easy to pay someone new using just their name, account number and sort code.

Mobile Banking

What you'll need:

  • The latest version of the Ulster app already installed on your device.
  • The account type (Personal or Business), account number and sort code. 
  • The first and last name of the person you are looking to pay or the full company trading name of the business you are looking to pay.

Your step-by-step guide:

  1. Open your mobile app.
  2. Tap on the account you want to make a payment from.
  3. Tap on 'Payments'.
  4. Tap on 'Make a payment'.
  5. Tap ‘Select payee’ on Apple devices or 'Choose Payee' on Android devices and then tap 'Pay someone new'. Enter the payee's first and last name or full company trading name, select the account type (Personal or Business), then the account number and sort code details of the person you want to pay.
  6. Choose the amount you wish to send, add a reference for the payment and then choose the date you want to send the money on, now or in the future. Where a Confirmation of Payee (CoP) check is performed you will receive a response to let you know if the name you have entered matches the details for the account. If the response from the payee's bank is ‘close match, no match or unable/unavailable’ we will give you advice on what to do next.
  7. For added security you may be asked to authorise this payment. If this happens you will see the ‘Authentication required’ screen. Just tap ‘Next’. Then re-enter your mobile app’s log in details, to re-confirm it’s you.
  8. Check and confirm the payment details are correct and tap 'Make payment'.
  9. That’s your payment complete! 

If you need to print or download a record of this payment, simply tap 'View receipt' and follow the instructions on the screen.
 

To make a payment from the mobile app for more than £1000, you'll need to have made at least one payment to that payee using Anytime Banking.
 

Payments under £1000 can be saved on the mobile app and will also show in Anytime Banking for future use.
 

You must be aged 16 or over and there is a maximum of 5 payments totalling £1000 per day.

Anytime Banking

What you'll need:

  • To be registered for Anytime Banking.
  • Your debit card and card reader*.
  • The payee details - this includes the first and last name of the person you are looking to pay, as well as the account type, account number and sort code.

*When making the first payment in Anytime Banking, a card reader will be required.

 

Your step-by-step guide:

  1. Log in to Anytime Banking.
  2. Select 'Payments and transfers' from the left hand menu.
  3. Select which account you want to make the payment from.
  4. Click on ‘Pay someone new’.
  5. Type in the first and last name of the payee or the full company trading name (Up to 140 characters. Acceptable special characters are '/', '&' and '-'.).Type in the payee's sort code and bank account number.  
  6. Select the account type (Personal or Business).
  7. Click next, where a Confirmation of Payee (CoP) check is performed you will receive a response to let you know if the name you have entered matches the details for the account. If the response from the Payee's bank is ‘close match, no match or unable/unavailable’ we will give you advice on what to do next.
  8. Review and edit the payee name – the payee name will be prepopulated from the full name you provided but you have the option to edit it. The payee name will appear on your statement and the payee list (Up to 18 characters. Acceptable special characters are '/', '&' and '-'.). Type in a reference - this should be something to help identify you to the payee when using your mobile app or Anytime Banking (Up to 18 characters. Acceptable special characters are '/', '&' and '-'.).Click next.
  9. Enter the amount you wish to pay, then select ‘Pay now’ or ‘Choose a date’ if you want to schedule this payment to leave on a future date. Click next.
  10. Before completing your payment you can review the details entered, if correct you will now need your debit card and card reader - follow the on screen instructions. 
  11. All done! You will see the payment confirmation and the option to print your transaction.

Log in to Anytime Banking

Anytime Banking available to customers aged 11+ with an Ulster account.
 

When making the first payment in Anytime Banking, a card reader will be required.
 

You must be aged 16 or over.

 

 

Paying a saved payee

If you have made a payment before via Anytime Banking or the Mobile Banking app, the payee details are automatically saved. The best part is, if you're using the same payment details, you don’t need a card reader to complete the transaction.

Mobile Banking

What you'll need:

  • The mobile app.

Your step-by-step guide:

  1. Open your mobile app.
  2. Tap on the account you wish to make a payment from.
  3. Tap on 'Payments'.
  4. Tap 'Make a payment'.
  5. Tap on 'Select payee' on Apple devices or 'Choose payee' on Android devices to choose who you want to pay. Enter the amount you want to pay and if you want to make to payment now or in the future.Tap ‘Make payment’ on Apple devices or 'Next' on Android devices to continue.
  6. Check and confirm the payment details are correct and tap 'Make payment'.
  7. That’s your payment complete!

If you need to print or download a record of this payment, simply tap 'View receipt' and follow the instructions on the screen.

  • Access to Anytime Banking

Your step-by-step guide:

  1. Log in to Anytime Banking.
  2. Select 'Payments and transfers' from the left-hand menu.
  3. Under the 'Make a payment or transfer' heading select 'Make a payment or transfer'.
  4. Select the account you want to make the payment from, and from your list of saved payees select the person or company you want to pay.
  5. Enter the amount and the date you want the money to leave your account.
  6. Select 'Next' and carefully check your payment details before clicking 'Confirm'.
  7. Once you have clicked on 'Confirm' you will be shown a summary of your newly arranged payment. 

You'll also have the option to print your payment confirmation.
