Current Account Switch Guarantee

Our commitment to you

Moving your bank account takes just seven working days and you can choose and agree your switch date. As your new account provider we offer the following guarantee:

  • We will move payments going out of your account (for example, Direct Debits and standing orders) and coming in (for example, your salary).
  • If you have money in your old account, we will transfer it to your new account on your switch date.
  • If there are any issues with the switch, we will contact you before the switch date. We will refund any interest (paid or lost) and charges made on your old or new accounts as a result.
  • We will arrange for payments accidentally made to your old account to be automatically redirected to your new account indefinitely. We will also contact the sender and give them your new account details.

Payment Redirection Extension Period

Under the Current Account Switch Guarantee, all customers who switch their current account to another bank benefit from a payment redirection service.  The redirection period has been extended from 36 months to indefinitely.  This applies to all customers who used the Current Account Switch Service to date and those who are about to do so.

If you have switched your account to us since 16th September 2013, you don't have to take any action to benefit from the extended service.
